P.S. I hate April Fool's Day

Not really, I guess. Some people do it right. They have fun ideas to trick the people around them. I choose not very fun ideas. Like the year I told my kids "it's Christmas!" right when they first woke up. Talk about a let down. I'm better off not doing anything.

The main reason I dislike this day is that I'm gullible. I have to tell myself in the morning, "Believe nothing today!" But sometimes I forget to even do that.

That time of year.

Oh Spring, I think you may be slowly inching your way into becoming my favorite season.

Sorry, Fall.

Maybe it's my getting older to blame? Maybe I like Spring and Fall equally well.
Maybe when I'm in a season, I like whichever it is the most.

But right now, my almond tree blossoms smell like honey.

Two month surprise.

A few days before Christmas, our 5 month old cat "Mouse" escaped out the back door. It was night time, I called her and left the door open but she didn't come back. The next day we went out searching for her all through the neighborhood. We looked in ditches and under porches. No sign of her. Dark storm clouds were moving in. That night, it snowed. It was a blizzard. Inches and inches of snow fell. The wind blew. The kids were worried. I was worried. The next day was Christmas. Santa had brought Mouse some presents. The kids were sad that she wasn't there to play with them. We were starting to think she might not ever come back. We thought she might not have found warm shelter. Another day went by. Two days after Christmas, she showed up meowing at the front door. She was so hungry and sleepy. We have no idea where she was, how she survived the storm, if someone had taken care of her, or what. But we found out what she had been doing and she made my kids' dreams come true.

She had kittens. At the end of February.

Six cute little kittens. Three calico girls and three boys. One black, one white, and one orange.

It is so strange that a cat who is not even a year old can have kittens! But she is a good mama and she loves her babies.

They are 3 weeks old now and just starting to get playful. They are so fun! Wobbly, toothless play-fighting is the best thing to watch!

The kids created this box with a little window cut out. The kittens are always curious to see what is happening outside of the box.

This guy looks like a little bear! So I call him Cubby. But he has several names: Vader, Ninja, and probably more. They all have several names actually. The only one the kids and I agree on is the littlest one. Her name is "Mini Mouse" since she is a mini version of her mom.

Will holding Mini Mouse.

It is such a fun adventure. Anyone need a kitten fix? Come on over!
